Vomela Honored as a “Growth” Company

The Business Journal October 2004 – The Business Journal

photo of Mark AuthFor the second time, Vomela has been honored as one of the top “Growth” companies in Minnesota, as recognized by the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal. Vomela was given an award at a ceremony on October 22. Tom Auth, Mark Auth and Chris Fretheim attended. The annual awards call out the 50 fastest growing private Minnesota companies. In an interview, Tom Auth answered several questions, one of which dealt with the biggest challenges he has faced over the past few years. “The biggest challenge has been to manage growth in our core business while at the same time, integrate acquisitions that utilize the same production equipment but with different turnaround times. We hired good people to manage these processes and we gained valuable talent with our acquisitions. We’ve also been very careful about maintaining a strong balance sheet and upgrading our plant and equipment as necessary to service our customers.”

The magazine’s writeup cited Vomela’s revenue growth curve as going from $30.7 million in 2001 to $45.6 million in 2003. Some companies which grow that fast get into trouble but clearly, Vomela has managed its growth carefully and logically, and is a very healthy company.
